Ayasofya Pansiyonlari

Ayasofya Pansiyonlari (Special Class – Superior) is located on a narrow cobbled street outside the palace walls and near the St. Sophia, known as the "Street of the Cool Fountain". This fountain, which was a cistern from Roman times, is now a very unusual restaurant. These houses outside the Topkapi palace walls were originally built in the early 19th century and restored in 1985 by the Turkish Touring and Automobile Association. They consist of between five and ten rooms, each furnished in a particular color with 19th century Turkish and European décor such as armchairs with tasseled fringes and velvet curtains. The Ayasofya Pansiyonlari and separate Konuk Evi offer guests a warm and friendly atmosphere. All rooms have shower, toilet and direct dial telephone. The street in front of the houses is closed to traffic.
